Biography

For most, the saxophone is an instrument that has found its comfortable place in jazz, soul and funk – for Albert Avakjan, this journey went even further into modern party music.

As a solo artist or in collaboration with DJ’s and other artists from all over the world, the Armenian-born saxophonist enhances current dance and popular music with a seemingly endless repertoire ranging from evergreens to current charts. The key lies in his spending more than half of his life with the saxophone and the ability to react and play spontaneously even to unknown music.

Every moment is a unique one, every sound, as well as every performance in the whole résumé: not reproducible – sheer out of the energy of the moment. With this, Albert Avakjan has been able to bring the saxophone into the hottest clubs and events to show that the journey of the saxophone has not merely found its comfort zone in a cozy place, but is sprinting along at the pace and energy of the zeitgeist.
