Biography

It’s 4:30 a.m. – the sun is rising over the Baltic Sea. Around 250 people dance at the vacation center on Weissenhäuser Strand. Ferry Ultra puts on music. To bed? Nobody wants that here. Why not. Let’s Dance.

Ferry Ultra? Ferry Ultra’s real name is Ferry Ghods – and he is one of the greats in this country’s rather manageable funk and soul scene. A name, a DJ who has been DJing for almost 30 years, making music, moving projects – and doing so successfully.In the eighties, he DJed together with his buddy Mousse T. at “Palo Palo” – one of the best clubs in the republic. He took over the store at the end of the 80s. There were more than a few musicians of world renown who played in the small, ultra-fine club at Raschplatz in Hanover on the

stage – and a short time later in the mini sound studio in the basement of the Palo. Roy Ayers war da, Gil Scott-Heron, Jamiroquai, Gwen McCrae. Ferry Ultra has DJed in all the good clubs in Hannover – and he still does. He has DJed at the Surf World Cup on Sylt, is a regular DJ at the best German festival – the “Baltic Soul Weekender” on Weissenhäuser Strand, and he has played music in Bellevue Palace – for the German President. Honor to whom honor is due.
